COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Notification

Many of you would have heard the news that the country is now officially on lock down.

Does this mean we can't go to the allotment?

I have searched for an answer to this and the unofficial advice i have had is that working on an allotment is a form of exercise, which the government is recommending we do but only once a day.

We still all need to be sensible and safe:

  • Wear gloves when entering and exiting the allotment and do not touch your face with the gloves on after you have done this.
  • Do not wash your hands in the troughs.
  • Do not share tools with your neighbours.
  • Distance yourself from anyone else on the plot.
  • Be vigilant, we don't know if there is going to be a shortage of fresh food over the coming months and people may be tempted to pick their own!

Unfortunately we have had to close the shop, community room and toilets for both our and your safety, so please bear this in mind when visiting.

This is a very sad, uncertain time but it is important we all follow the government guidelines and stay safe. You may not be worried about the virus, but please remember we have a lot of older people on site who could get very ill if they contract it.

Take care people.
